We need to refresh 70 access points next year and the Aruba quote (its HPE with Juniper Mist now, still getting used to that) is the obvious Wi Fi 7 option. Most clients are still Wi Fi 6 or 6E though. For people who already rolled it out, did users notice anything beyond speed tests? I'm more interested in crowded meeting rooms, roaming and latency than a big number next to one laptop.
fwiw, the biggest win for us was 6 GHz capacity, not Wi Fi 7 by itself. Meeting rooms got better becuase newer clients stopped fighting with everything on 5 GHz. Multi link operation sounded great in the slide deck, but client support is still uneven. Check your wired uplinks too. A shiny AP on a 1 Gb port is a weird place to spend money.
Also budget for the boring part. We had to add switches, PoE and more fiber runs. The AP cost was maybe half the project. Roaming didn't magically improve until we fixed power levels and removed a few access points. We actually had too much coverage in two areas.
edit: that's useful. Our current design has APs blasting at full power because the previous installer wanted every corner green on the heat map. Sounds like a survey first and hardware second. Did you keep 2.4 GHz enabled everywhere??
Yes, but mostly for old scanners and IoT gear. We use separate policy and lower power. Do a client inventory before you touch the design. If only ten percent of devices can use 6 GHz, sell the project as a capacity and lifecycle upgrade, not as everyone getting seven gigabit Wi Fi on Monday morning.
