We are greenfield and not tied to Microsoft. AWS has the largest ecosystem, Azure is what most local partners sell, but the developers keep asking for GCP because of data services and a cleaner console. For people who chose GCP recently, what was the real reason and what did you regret later?
Data was the reason for us. BigQuery, Pub/Sub and the general analytics path were easy to get moving. The regret was hiring. We can find ten AWS engineers for every strong GCP person locally. Support and partner choice also get thin outside major markets
don't choose from the console. Build the same small workload in all three and price support, egress, identity, logging and people. Compute cost was almost irrelevant in our comparison. Existing skills and committed discounts moved the number much more
edit: the hiring point is real here too. Our app is mostly APIs plus a warehouse. Would you still avoid splitting the app and analytics across providers?
unless there is a very strong reason, yes. Cross cloud data transfer, identity and incident ownership add up quickly. Multi cloud sounds like bargaining power until one outage crosses two support queues. Pick a primary, keep the architecture portable where it's cheap, and avoid pretending every service has to be provider neutral
