Our old agreement expires this year and the new VMware quote finally landed. We run three clusters, around 180 VMs, vSAN and Veeam. Management wants alternatives now, not a strategy slide. For teams that finished a migration, where did you land and what was harder than expected?

Proxmox expanding support removes one objection from management. The remaining concern is everything around the hypervisor: backup, monitoring, hardware certification and finding people who can support Ceph at 3 a.m. Has that ecosystem caught up enough for a medium enterprise?

KubeVirt vs VMware, who should actually use OpenShift Virtualization?

Leadership heard that we can run VMs on Kubernetes and wants to know if KubeVirt or OpenShift Virtualization replaces VMware. We already have a platform team, but the virtualization admins do not run Kubernetes. Is this a sensible consolidation or two complex systems stacked together?
